What is your normal daily routine for work or school? I start by stretching my arms and legs, going shower, getting dressed, eating breakfast, and of course, slipping on my shoes before getting into the car. But how would that daily morning routine be like without the luxury of shoes and a car. In India, walking is the primary form of transportation. Laborers are forced to walk and work barefoot on grounds with shards of glass and contaminated dirt/mud puddles break and infect the skin of their feet. Winter brings new struggles: ice, rain, and frozen toes. The dry, cracked skin of their soles bleeds with little impact. These laborers can't afford the luxury of shoes. A car or taxi is an impossible notion. They are left with one option only: to suffer day after day in the harshest working conditions; icy rain, waves of heat, monsoons. The soreness of their feet won't be granted the time to heal. Soon, their work won't be satisfactory enough to the boss, leaving the laborers with no job. Soles to Souls provides these laborers with shoes to help them stay healthy through all the working conditions during each season and fight poverty. Each donation fights poverty one step at a time.
